There is an old saying, “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.” The common explanation is that the husband should be held to the same standard as the wife.
I have noticed a strange shifting of standards lately in relation to the freedom of religion. The ACLU and the left have interpreted the phrase “separation of church and state” in such a way that has been detrimental to Bible Christianity. Our founders coined this phrase so that the church would not control the state and likewise the state would not control the church. Each was to operate independently of each other. Until the 1950s that was the common interpretation. Bible reading, prayer, singing of hymns were part and parcel of government schools.
By changing the meaning of “separation of church and state” judges and courts, inimical to the Christian faith, made it unlawful in school to pray, to read the Bible, to celebrate Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving. Students are threatened if they dare speak the name of Jesus Christ in their graduation speeches. School administrators in Florida were brought to court for asking a blessing on their food! Chaplains are forbidden to pray in the name of Jesus! Come on! Enough is enough.
Now that the Muslims want to build a Cordoba mosque in New York at the site of the Twin Towers the ACLU and the left are demanding freedom of religion. I understand that the Greek Orthodox Church that was destroyed in the attack of 9/11 was refused a permit to rebuild. The same people that have robbed Christians of their freedom of worship and expression are bending over backward to see that Islam enjoys that same freedom of worship and expression.
Freedom loving Americans better wake up and stand up before is too late. If freedom of religion is good for the Muslims, then it is also good for the Christians. “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.” Away with this double standard. You are encouraged to copy this and send it to your local newspaper’s letters to the editor.
